Galway Corinthians RFC has announced the launch of the 2019/2020 Corinthian Rugby season in Galway. This year, support from MathWorks, a global engineering and scientific software company with operations in Galway, has helped the club continue its tradition of extending participation to all members of the Galway community.
Organised by Galway Corinthians RFC, the annual Tag Rugby season continues to grow in the number of teams and players taking part with a marked increase year on year of visitors to Corinthian Park and Galway City around that time.
This year, the Club has seen participation from over 80 corporate teams, featuring more than 1000 players over the 10-week season. With over 1,800 adults participating or attending the games each week, the Galway Corinthians RFC event is considered the largest Tag Rugby venue in Ireland.
Roy Gibson, Chairman of Galway Corinthians RFC said: “Our Tag Rugby season is one that the entire Galway community looks forward to each summer. Given the growing number of teams and the fact that we have finite resources to manage field operations, staff clubhouse and organize games, we rely on support from companies like MathWorks to help us maintain the quality of the venue and tournament.”
Managing director of MathWorks, Galway, Richard Haxby said: “MathWorks is committed to helping develop and maintain the vibrancy of our towns and cities. We have been a part of Galway for two years, with plans to add a significant number of staff to our office in the coming years.
With staff and their families working, playing and living here, our focus has always been on supporting our local community. We are happy to work with Galway Corinthians RFC, an organization that works hard to enrich the local culture which matches our mission to give back to our neighbourhood.”.
The Tag Rugby season got underway on May 23rd and will culminate with finals night at Galway Corinthians RFC on July 26th.
